We are pleased to welcome PC 1947 Dave BENNETT to the Beat who has stepped in following the departure of PC 1365 Stu VENABLES who has moved onto pastures new within the Force. We are sure the Residents of Birstall & Wanlip will welcome Dave who looks forward to working with the local communities moving forward and PCSO 6174 Jon will endeavour to capture a photo of Dave in time for September's Newsletter.

#YouSaidWeDid - What matters to you & what we are doing

Road Safety

Road safety remains a key concern raised by the community, particularly in relation to speeding and inconsiderate parking near schools. In response, we have utilised our specialist traffic department to target drivers whose behaviour is contributing to anti-social behaviour and safety concerns within the village. As a result individuals have been reported for driving-related offences. Additionally, officers have stopped e-scooters and electric bikes being used inappropriately, issuing warnings where necessary to help educate and prevent further incidents.

ASB

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) has been highlighted as a concern by the community within the Birstall ward. In response, targeted patrols have been conducted around key locations including Meadow Lane, School Lane, Sibson Road, and Front Street. Officers have actively engaged with local youths and are working closely with schools, parents, and local businesses to prevent, reduce, and manage further incidents of ASB.

Vehicle Crime

Vehicle crime has been identified as a concern by the community, with a recent increase in reported attempted thefts from motor vehicles across the area. In response, high-visibility patrols have been deployed in targeted locations, with particular focus on the Goscote ward. Investigations have been enhanced through house-to-house enquiries and CCTV reviews. Officers have also been providing reassurance to residents and offering tailored crime prevention advice to help reduce further incidents
