🛡️ Neighbourhood Policing Update – Loughborough Town Centre

Keeping Our Community Safe and Connected

Over the past few weeks, our neighbourhood team has been working hard to ensure Loughborough Town Centre remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone. Here's what we've been up to:

👮‍♂️ Street Wardens on Patrol
You may have noticed our Street Wardens around town. Their presence has been warmly welcomed by local shopkeepers and residents. They're working closely with our beat team to gather intelligence on prolific offenders and provide a visible, reassuring presence.

🚓 High Visibility Patrols
We’re continuing our patrols in key ‘hot spot’ areas, especially during the evenings. Officers in the ASB Patrol Car are equipped with trackers to monitor and respond quickly to incidents.

📹 Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)
There’s been a recent rise in ASB involving groups of youths. We’re actively identifying individuals through CCTV, body-worn footage, and still images. Rest assured, appropriate action is being taken.

🤝 We’re Here for You
If you see us or the Street Wardens out and about, please don’t hesitate to say hello. We’re always happy to chat, listen to your concerns, and offer support.

⚖️ ASB Injunction Issued

Our Priorities (issued 30/06/2025)

  • To reduce the number of thefts in and around Loughborough town centre
  • Action Taken:

  • Cycle register schemes continue and it is pleasing to note that there has been a significant decrease in the number of cycle theft reports.
  • Working closely with the town centre security wardens, we have seen a decrease in the number of thefts.
  • We have linked in with a number of stores who have been repeatedly targeted to help reduce the number of thefts they are having. With that several arrests and remands have been made as a result.
  • 2. Reduce Anti-social behaviour reported by residents across the local area in varying formats including car cruise meetings, noisy parties, youths causing issues in the town centre.

    Action Taken:

  • Additional officers are currently being deployed as part of Operation Lexical, whereby officers will patrol in and around Loughborough town centre in order to combat reports of anti social behaviour
  • A number of young persons have been arrested for reports of assaults and ASB in the town, a brief dispersal order has also been utilised to move youths on.
  • 3. There are an increasing number of e-bikes and e-scooters being used in the town centre which is causing a potential danger to pedestrians.

    Action Taken:

  • An operation is planned for the summer to tackle this, officers will be aiming at advising and enforcing on those caught.
  • Local PCSOs have been in the town handing out flyers regarding the use of them.
  • Social media updates will also be provided.
  • Upcoming Neighbourhood Consultations

Neighbourhood consultations are a good opportunity to discuss your neighbourhood concerns and meet your local policing team.  Please come along and speak to us.
