Beat Blog week ending 6th July 2025

Dear Resident

Here is this weeks beat blog covering 30th June - 6th July

Its been a short set of shifts this week for me, so ive been juggling beat work, scheduled rest days and attending a 2 day first aid course. If you didn’t already know PCSOs receive the same level of first aid skills training as police officers.

Along with our PC Colleagues we are often the first emergency service on scene at a variety of incidents—from road traffic collisions to welfare concerns and public accidents.

It is therefore important that our skills are kept up to date as we never know when we may next be attending that serious incident .

Some of my training included:

  •  CPR and Defibrillator Use – for adults, children, and babies.
  • Catastrophic Bleeds – how to manage life-threatening bleeding.
  • ABD - recognising the signs of Acute Behavioural Disruption associated drug induced psychosis and the life threatening risks involved.
  •  Major Incidents – protocols and preparedness for large-scale emergencies involving mass casualties.
  •

NL64 Shepshed Loughborough West beat area

Having a quick look at our systems it appears that It’s been a busy week across the beat, with a range of incidents and proactive policing efforts by colleagues.

    Home Security Advice

With several burglary and attempted burglary reports this week, here are some simple but effective ways to protect your home:

    • Secure Doors and Windows – Always lock doors and windows, even when you're at home. Use deadbolts and consider upgrading to anti-snap locks.

    • Lighting – Install motion-sensor lights around entrances and dark areas. Use timer switches to make your home look occupied when you're away.

    • Surveillance – Consider installing a doorbell camera or CCTV system. Ensure cameras are visible to deter potential intruders.

    • Garage and Shed Security – Use strong padlocks and consider reinforcing garage doors. Don’t leave tools or ladders outside—they can be used to gain entry.

    • Deliveries – Arrange for parcels to be delivered to a secure location or neighbour. Avoid leaving packages visible on your doorstep.

If you’d like a free home security assessment, contact your local neighbourhood policing team.
