TOWN BEAT TEAM UPDATE

This week sees the start of Safer Streets Summer campaign which sees officers shining a spotlight on town centres and the surrounding areas. Officers are, between emergency calls, out and about in the community as often as possible but this week allows us to focus on the needs and issues in terms of engagement and getting peoples views and concerns on a variety of matters at street and ground level.

Today saw the Town Beat Officers out on patrol with the Police and Crime Commissioner who wanted visit first hand both the town centre area and the Cattle Market. The Commissioner spoke to the CEO of the cattle market and stall holders in town centre and after a few hours walking around in the Costa Del Melton heat moved onto his next engagement and hopefully some shade. Today also saw the beat team out in the town with our newly formed Safer Streets team featuring two 6ft plus officers who are now and will be a permanent fixture both in Melton and Oakham town centres.

Thank you to everyone who stopped and chatted and we will see many of you again tomorrow and coming days no doubt - for today those of us on earlies are now off home for a cold drink.
