Police: Priority Update - Vehicle and Rural Crime

Hello Rutland North,

Two very different proactive vehicle stop checks on my beat to tell you about that I conducted over the weekend 🚘✋

1️⃣ Whilst on intelligence led proactive patrols, I saw this black VW car and it sent the ‘spidey senses’ tingling 🕷️ I requested for the vehicle to stop in a nearby lay-by… and it did… however the driver decided that he didn’t much fancy talking to me (not sure why, I’m not that scary, am I!?) and so he went for a run 🏃‍♂️

I gave a good chase 👟 but being on my own at the time, the driver unfortunately disappeared into a large rabbit warren of an area with lots of different footpaths 😶‍🌫️ it’s one of the most frustrating things as a cop 👎 I did my best Crystal Maze search, but alas there’s only so much one person can do…

BUT, the good thing about Policing is there is more than one way to catch a crim 🔒 because - we’ve seized his car, we’ve got the keys, plus everything inside it 🔑 💼🥤

Legal request paperwork is in the post to the registered keeper to inform us who was driving, which is another offence committed if not responded to❗️📑 📮

And failing that, we could go down the route of forensic examination 👨‍🔬🔍

So if the driver wishes to enquire about the possibility of getting their car back (it’s a nice car 👌), they are free to come into the station for a ‘chat’. Fair warning - might be a tad awkward for them…😬 but we’ll be more than happy to greet them with a big smile 😄 …maybe a pot noodle 😉

2️⃣ The second vehicle stop was this trailer 🚐

It was getting into the evening and the registration on the trailer didn’t match the vehicle it was hitched to… you guessed it 🕷️

Rural Crime and Vehicle Crime are local neighbourhood priorities that people have said that they want me to focus on proactively 🚜 🚙

I’ll make no apologies for stopping trailers in the evening, or in the day if something doesn’t look right, as I’ve experienced any and all legitimate trailer owners are more than happy and feel reassured by the experience 🚔

But I’ll always say a big thank you to you for your time and patience when, as was the case with this trailer, everything is confirmed to be all in order which is often easily checked within a few minutes ✅

Have a good week Rutland North, hopefully it’ll cool down a touch in the next day or two 🥵
