Burbage Police Activity – Drugs.

  • Warrants are obtained from the court for police to enter premises as a result of intelligence and information, to show that criminal activity may be taking place inside. In this case local residence and businesses had raised concerns about drugs.

As we were trying to get in to a property in Burbage, 2 of the occupants were keen to leave straight into the arms of the skipper who was assisting with the containment. On finally getting into the place, we found a large-scale industrial Cannabis grow with 452 plants being seized. Whilst waiting for WesternPower to arrive due to some dodgy electrics. Another male arrived with connections to the place, he was promptly detained and whisked off to the cells too.

3 arrested and what turns out to be £300,000 worth of cannabis taken off the streets.

Whilst in the vicinity, 2 of the NPT officers who clearly felt that all the drugs already found and prisoners arrested wasn’t enough to keep them busy, spotted a known car without the driver, a quick explore of the area on foot led to the driver and a friend being detained for a search and over 200 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin being located.
  • Burbage's own Sgt Cross completing work around drug incidents.

  • 3 Males were detained on Higham way following concerns around drug activity in the area. As a result, a 17-year-old was arrested for supply of class A drugs.
  • A warrant was also completed at an address on North Close where class A drugs were found and one male arrested
  • Apologies for the non-attendance to our beat surgery last week, It was a very busy weekend. I did manage to visit the SPAR later in the evening, which was good timing for us, but not for the occupants of a vehicle that decided the best place to sit and smoke Cannabis was in a disabled spot outside a busy shop. Cannabis seized and the offender was/is being dealt with.

Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement

Over the last week, we have also completed a lot of community engagement work including attending the Burbage Carnival and we also visited Burbage Infants to deliver a safer summer presentation where we delivered messages such as water safety, road safety and stranger danger. As always, it is a pleasure to pop in and speak to the children which will hopefully help them remember key messages during the summer.

Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
