Birstall & Wanlip - July 2025 Newsletter
Welcome to the monthly update for the residents and communities of the Birstall & Wanlip Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
#YouSaidWeDid - What matters to you & what we are doingAnti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Concerns
ASB has been raised as a key concern by our community, and we are actively responding. Officers recently attended the Birstall Gala, engaging with residents and event organizers to strengthen community ties. At Leicester North Services, targeted patrols have contributed to a noticeable reduction in ASB reports. We’ve also responded to complaints about nuisance motorbikes at Watermead Park, deploying high-visibility patrols and conducting enquiries to identify those responsible. Additionally, we are addressing youth-related ASB and incidents of shoplifting in local retail areas, working closely with shop staff to identify offenders and prevent further disruption
Road Safety
Road safety continues to be a key concern raised by our community, particularly around issues of speeding and inconsiderate parking near schools. In response, we have taken proactive steps to address these concerns. We are also actively liaising with local schools to tackle non-compliance at zebra crossings and to address general parking issues that compromise the safety of children and parents. As part of our continued commitment, we are preparing to distribute updated literature to raise awareness and encourage responsible behaviour around school zones. Recently, an uninsured vehicle was identified and recovered as part of our ongoing enforcement efforts.
Vehicle Crime
We have seen a recent increase in reported attempted thefts from motor vehicles across the area. In response, we are increasing high-visibility patrols in affected locations to deter offenders and reassure the public. Our officers are actively assisting with ongoing investigations and continuing to gather intelligence to help identify those responsible. We encourage residents to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity, and take steps to secure their vehicles.
