BIRSTALL & WANLIP ROUND UP

Dear residents,

Despite momentary rain here and there, the sweltering continues, as does the pressure on the Local Policing Team and the wider Leicestershire Police force tackling the increase in demand as we move through the summer months.

Top of the agenda (though this will change) has been a rise in reports of youths in Birstall causing ASB - Harassment, Alarm and Distress and low level petty theft in several local businesses. The Local Policing Team are working with local schools and partner agencies to specifically identify suspects and pursue the appropriate restorative process.

Birstall Gala returned on Saturday the 21st of June (did you see Stu & Jon?) and though the day itself was only mildly marred in the afternoon by an unexpected concentration of youths in the centre of the village (not fighting as was initially believed) by early evening into the night the behaviour of youths deteriorated further to the extent they caused significant unrest, a physical altercation with a local business owner (attempting a selfless act) and other unacceptable behaviour. Culprits have been identified regarding this behaviour and will be subject to resolvement of an appropriate order.

Beyond these main points, we continue to build intelligence regarding off-road motorbikes, and e-Scooters and conduct as much patrolling as operational demand allows. Engagements will continue and information related to this will be sent out on Neighbourhood Link, social media and from the Your Area Search bar on the Leicestershire Police website at www.leics.police.uk

Stay safe, vigilant.
