Dear Community member

Crime Prevention Advice

·  As the warmer months approach, the beat team are aware that nuisance motorbikes and off road bikes are becoming an issue for residents. The beat team are aware of these issues and conduct regular high visibility patrols around affected areas to deter this behaviour. If you have spotted a motor/cross bike causing anti-social behaviour, you can report it to us as long as it has a VRM. The beat team unfortunately struggle to progress reports when bikes do not have VRMS, but we understand this is usually the case. You can also assist if you are aware of the riders identity or residence. Once a rider has been identified then a Section 59 (ASB on a motorbike) can be issued to the rider.  If that rider is then, caught causing ASB again within a year, the motor/cross bike can be confiscated.

What have the neighbourhood team been doing?

The beat team have been busy working on our beat priorities, which are currently drugs, road safety, and retail crime.

Drugs - Intel continues to be submitted from both the public & police officers to support requesting warrants from the courts

Retail crime - The beat team continues with reassurance visits & liaising with store staff to support the reporting of thefts & collecting of CCTV

Road safety - Speed ops to be arranged over the next month

This is just a selection of what the neighbourhood team have been doing, we have also been completing crime investigations, visible patrolling including 'hot spot' areas and engaging with residents and businesses in the area.

Upcoming Neighbourhood Consultations

Neighbourhood consultations are a good opportunity to discuss your neighbourhood concerns and meet your local policing team. Please come along and speak to us. Dates of planned beat surgeries & events will be advertised here.

Kind Regards,

NL64 Neighbourhood Team
