Hello everybody,
The warmer weather has arrived and with it reports of antisocial behaviour around the usage of e-Scooters and off-road motorcross bikes has increased, predominantly around Watermead Park. Due to the size of the Park, Watermead is covered by the Birstall & Wanlip Beat Team, the Syston, Thurmaston & the Wolds Beat Team and Rushey Mead, Belgrave & Northfields (city) beats, and through information sharing and joint working, we will look to crack down on this behaviour.
Additionally, though reports of Theft from Motor Vehicles has continued to decrease, residents are still encouraged (as always) to fortify their properties & belongings.
Parking concerns continue to be raised with both PCSO 6174 Harrison and PC 1365 Venables, especially on Monday the 16th of June whereby PCSO Jon received a concerning call from the Birstall Methodist Church regarding an excess of cars parked in allocated parking for the church which were soon identified as belonging to parents in attendance over the road for the Riverside Academy Sports Day. Luckily through a degree of mediation and joint working, we were able to move the majority of vehicles, admittedly with a further few mishaps but it highlights the continuous struggle residents have with other residents regarding the responsible parking of vehicles, in relation to the schools, the shops and sundry other reasons.
This remains an ongoing concern slowly burning away in the community though the long term solution remains elusive. Short term solutions remain dependent on Police presence where available, and Traffic Wardens when in situ, but discussions remain ongoing.
Until next time, stay safe, stay vigilant & continue to enjoy the good weather!
