Keeping Cool

Good evening all, I hope you are enjoying the splendid weather and managing to stay cool 🥶 . With the weather set to get hotter over the next few days it may be tempting to swim in lakes or canals to try and cool off. Please be aware this can be highly dangerous and people can find themselves in trouble very easily. Open water can be dangerous as:

1- The depth of water is unknown.
2- There can be objects submerged under the water which can injure you.
3- Cold water shock. Water can be deceptively cold even in this hot weather.
4- Unseen currents can take you away from shore quicker than you realise.
5- Waterborne diseases such as Weils disease can be present in the water and can make unwell if swallowed.

Whilst the water can look appealing, please stay safe and steer clear!
