Rural South It has been a VERY busy few shifts since my last post but for those that have an interest in their Neighbourhood policing on the rural south beat, here is some of daily business attended to...
🕵🏼 A number of other incidents attended including a report of a burglary and vehicles being used with no documents. Crime investigation as always and visiting victims of crime or those that are vulnerable in our villages. 📚 📐 Today I visited by appointment a school on the beat to engage with a group of young people that needed guidance in online safety and keeping themselves on the correct side of the law. 🚓 It was a privilege yesterday to have with me three A level students that were working towards joining the police. After plenty of prep and form filling (safety first!) they were able to spend a few hours with me heading out to deal with some areas of police daily business. They came away with seeing first hand our morning briefing from the Sgt, daily checks on the police vehicles, dealing with traffic process, search tactics and risk assessments looking for missing people and managed to get a blue light run in to top it off.
- Flagged down by members of the public after an elderly lady had fallen and sustained a nasty head injury. Police vehicles carry decent first aid / trauma kit and we were able to administer some first aid until the real medics arrived. - Seizure of a vehicle left on a public road without any insurance, tax or MOT. We all have to pay our way with our cars and it puts others at risk not doing so. - Seizure of a vehicle that had been crashed overnight near Gaddesby and left for someone else to clear up. - Finally the 'good boy' moment captured when a group of Melton / Rutland officers and I utilised military dogs and their handlers to assist in locating a person that we had some serious concerns for and had gone missing. The British Military did not hesitate in helping and within minutes had located the person and were able to get him some urgent help. Fantastic work so a thank-you to them is deserved.
I hope to be at the Ab Kettleby Fete on Saturday 21st June as well as Asfordby School on Monday 23rd June. I also have 2 x planned operations to reduce road casualties and anti-social use of our roads in the coming week or so....please drive carefully....I will be joined by officers from the Roads policing Unit as well as experts from Leics Fire and Rescue to deliver some education.
