Burbage Police Newsletter June 2025 And Quad Bike Appeal.
Hello Resident,
Here is our Newsletter with a summary of crime in Burbage, and Police activity for May.
If you have any information relating to quad bikes and a mini moto bike being used around solo 1 (allotment off Brookside), the outdoor gym area off Brookside and Tilton Road Park, please get in touch. We are completing patrols and working on local information to identify and deal with those involved. This type of behaviour is causing danger to local residents and children. Please support us in putting a stop to it. Someone will have a neighbour in Burbage where these bikes are coming from. We have already identified and dealt with one youth regarding off road bikes near Coventry Road Area. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Patrols ongoing in areas such as Solo 1, Brookside Parks, Tilton Road and Farm Road.
Please be aware of suspicious activity overnight between midnight and 03:00 in areas such as Brookside and Hillrise where suspects on Bicycles are going on driveways and targeting motorbikes and vehicles. We are completing increased and targeted patrols but please call 999 immediately if you see a crime in progress.

Welcome to our monthly update for the residents and communities of the Burbage Neighbourhood Policing Area. This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
#YouSaid - What matters to you
We have listened to you and the concerns you raised and prioritised the following: Below are our new priorities which we will be actioning this month.
Priority 1: Road Safety
You Said – Road safety is consistently raised as a concern around the village with a variety of concerns being raised which include pavement parking, obstruction and speeding
Priority 2: Anti-social Behaviour
You Said – Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) around local parks and streets in Burbage is a cause for concern, you noted incidents of cannabis/drug use, assault, bullying, criminal damage and general rowdiness.
Concerns are that with the Easter holidays approaching young people will have more time on their hands and the warmer weather and lighter nights will encourage more people out that is likely to leader to wider ASB issues.
Priority 3: Vehicle Crime
You Said – Vehicle crime is occurring across the village, with the majority of reports relating to overnight thefts from vans. Hotspot areas are linked to local hotels and last year during quarter 1 police saw an increase in this type of offending.
#WeDid - What we are doing
Road Safety - Multiple vehicles have been seized this month whilst officers have been out on patrol and in the area. Offences include no license and no insurance. This type of Police activity shows Police presence and hopefully deters other crimes. It also very much supports with road safety, especially if someone is driving a vehicle without a license. We completed 2 road safety assemblies as Sketchley Primary School where we delivered key messages to help keep children safe, we also spoke about a range of locally raised issues relating to parent parking. We have also addressed isolated complaints regarding abandoned vehicles and bad parking. Not all parking issues are a Police led, but we will try and challenge as and when we can.
Anti-social Behaviour – Overall issues regarding Anti-social behaviour during May were low. It appears the work we did at local schools before the holidays had an impact as there was not repeat of some of the youth related behaviour we saw during May 2024. We have responded and dealt with isolated incidents involving youths which has resulted in satisfactory outcomes for the victims. We continue to work on recent reports of quad bikes/Mini-moto bikes around the Brookside area (appeals for information and targeted patrols).
Vehicle Crime - During early May, we received a report of a stolen VW T-Roc from Woodstock Close and an attempt car theft from Coventry Road. We also had a theft of a VW Golf from East Close. Towards the end of May, motorbikes and cycles were targeted from locations such as Jury Inn hotel, Brookside and Cowper Road. We are currently investigating recent thefts of motorbikes/cycles and continue to offer crime reduction advice/support. we are working with local residents to identify those involved. We attended events such as the Burbage Schools Spring fair and Grove Road street party where we spoke to many residents and supported with items such as window alarms and RFID car key wallets.
