Police: Priority Update - Road Safety

Good morning Rutland,

Last night I was on a night shift, crewed up with response officer PC 337 Morgan Kilburn.

We were out conducting proactive patrols, when a vehicle pulled out of a car park in front of us… without their headlights on… nearby to a pub… just after midnight…

The phrase, “are you thinking what I’m thinking?” might have been uttered.️

The vehicle was promptly stopped and a hatrick of offences uncovered.

First up, the vehicle had no valid insurance.

Secondly, the driver provided a positive roadside breath sample.

And thirdly, the driver was in possession of both class A and class B controlled drugs.

So, their vehicle was seized and they were arrested and taken to custody where they were charged to appear in court.

The person was previously unknown to Police and probably thought that they could get away with it… not on our watch.

Road safety and drug possession are local neighbourhood priorities that you say that you want us to tackle, so we’re pleased to let you know about this positive proactive result last night.

Have a great bank holiday weekend Rutland.
