Message from the Market Bosworth Beat Team

🚨 Important Update 🚨

The team want to bring to your attention, a recent rise in reporting of Impersonation Fraud across the Market Bosworth Beat area.💻

Scammers are using deceitful tactics to trick residents, often posing as trusted individuals or organisations to gain personal information or money. 💰

Here are some common scenarios to watch out for:
1️⃣ Impersonation Calls: Fraudsters may call claiming to be from banks, government agencies, or service providers, asking for sensitive information. We have become aware of members of the public being contacted by persons claiming to be Police Officers, often from alternate forces. They have requested information from individuals, often obtaining personal/sensitive data as a result.

❗❗ ALWAYS REMEMBER POLICE OFFICERS WILL NEVER CONTACT YOU, REQUESTING ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION (E.G BANK ACCOUNT/DEBIT CARD DETAILS). IF IN DOUBT, END THE CALL – CONTACT YOUR LOCAL POLICE FORCE AND CONFIRM THE LEGITIMACY OF THE CALLER❗❗

2️⃣ Fake Emails and Texts: Be cautious of unsolicited messages that request personal details or prompt you to click on suspicious links.📱

3️⃣ Door-to-Door Scams: Some individuals may visit homes, claiming to be representatives from charities or utility companies, seeking donations or payments. 🚪

What You Can Do:
➡️ Always verify the identity of anyone asking for personal information. Hang up and call back using official numbers.
➡️Never share sensitive information via email or text unless you are certain of the recipient's identity.
➡️Report suspicious activity to us immediately. Your vigilance can help protect our community!

If you have any concerns or have been a victim of fraud, please contact us directly via 101 or through the Leicestershire Police website. Together, we can keep our neighbourhood safe. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏻

Thank you for your continued support!

Stay safe,
MB Team 👮🏻‍♀️
