Beat Priority Update

Good morning

Please find below an update on our beat priorities.

You Said - You have said that there are issues surrounding drug dealing and associated ASB in The Close, Albert Village. This is a continuing priority as we are still working with partners and still receiving calls from residents .

We did -  A 25 year old woman arrested as a result of a warrant being executed at her address on 13th May has been charged with offences. Rebecca PAGE of The Close in Albert Village has been charged with two counts of possessing class B drugs with intent to supply between 2024 and 2025. PAGE was remanded into custody to attend Leicester Magistrates Court this morning where she has been bailed and her case has been referred to Leicester Crown Court for trial.

You Said – We have received reports relating to thefts and general ASB at Moira Furnace. The Furnace is undergoing works at the moment and have been targeted by thieves. We are also seasonally made aware of an increase of ASB as the lighter nights arrive.

We are doing – Regular patrols and worked with employees and volunteers at the Furnace.  We are happy to say that we have had no reports of anti-social behaviour, however, these patrols will continue particularly in the evenings.  We are committed to ensuring Moira Furnace remains a safe and enjoyable place to visit.

You Said – We receive a number of reports relating to HGV’s in the area of Albert Village. We understand the frustrations surrounding this and the associated safety of those residents affected.

We are doing – Targeted patrols in the area working with the companies involved.  A community meeting was held, this was well attended.  A vehicle which was a fully articulated lorry and had no legitimate reason to be in the weight restricted zone was stopped and dealt with.  It was also noted that the signage on Main Street at the start of the weight limit zone is obstructed by tree growth and this has been reported to Leicestershire Highways to rectify.  Regular monitoring of the area will continue.

Kind regards
