At around 05:00 on the morning of the 10th of May, there has been a break in to Burbage constitutional Club on Church Street. If you have any CCTV in the area of suspicious activity, please get in touch. 25000270630
We attended the VE Day 80th Anniversary Event on Grove Road on Sunday. There was a fantastic atmosphere and it was really good to see such a great community spirit. We had lots of community engagement and supported residents with crime prevention.
Burbage Police Newsletter May 2025
Issue: Spring Update May 2025
Your dedicated Neighbourhood Team for Burbage. Sgt James Cross, PCSO Darren Stretton and PC Josh Symonds. Leicestershire Police website
Welcome to our monthly update for the residents and communities of the Burbage Neighbourhood Policing Area. This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
#YouSaid - What matters to you
We have listened to you and the concerns you raised and prioritised the following: Below are our new priorities which we will be actioning this month.
Priority 1: Road Safety
You Said – Road safety is consistently raised as a concern around the village with a variety of concerns being raised which include pavement parking, obstruction and speeding
Priority 2: Anti-social Behaviour
You Said – Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) around local parks and streets in Burbage is a cause for concern, you noted incidents of cannabis/drug use, assault, bullying, criminal damage and general rowdiness.
Concerns are that with the Easter holidays approaching young people will have more time on their hands and the warmer weather and lighter nights will encourage more people out that is likely to leader to wider ASB issues.
Priority 3: Vehicle Crime
You Said – Vehicle crime is occurring across the village, with the majority of reports relating to overnight thefts from vans. Hotspot areas are linked to local hotels and last year during quarter 1 police saw an increase in this type of offending.
#WeDid - What we are doing
Road Safety - We have been addressing residential reports regarding a mixture of concerns such as abandoned vehicles, bad parking and speeding concerns. We have also identified youths involved in ASB involving mopeds in the area and completed work including partnership working action. We continue to complete targeted work around those identified where we have received complaints, this includes home visits and phone calls. Officers have also completed stop checks where vehicles have been seized and arrests made due to various offences.
Anti-social Behaviour – We have visited Hastings High school to complete pro-active work in the lead up to school holidays where we spoke to year 7/8/9/10 around what anti-social behaviour is, the consequences and other subjects such as drugs and county lines. We have visited local parks and continue to challenge bad behaviour which has been raised by residents. Patrols include parks such as Colts Close, Rugby Road, Tilton Road and Hinckley Road Park. No issues identified whilst in the areas. We are working with residents and collecting evidence around recent reports of ASB on local parks such as Hinckley Road and Tilton Road Park.
Vehicle Crime - We have supported residents with crime reduction items such as RFID wallets and window alarms. There was a report of theft of vehicle in early April, the vehicle was recovered. Please consider steering locks, driveway bollards and increase home security as suspects are tending to make attempts to enter residential properties to get keys. Actions such as hi visibility patrols and stop checks alongside vehicle/home security, all support in reducing crime. Towards the end of April, reports from Woodstock Close and Rugby Road of theft of motor vehicle. One was keyless, the other was by entry to property.
