Speeding op

Good morning,

Yesterday your local officers đźš” đź‘®  from the Lutterworth and Broughton Astley beats conducted speed checks using the new Trucam equipment.

We setup in a few locations yesterday including, Frolesworth, Coventry Road and Station Road in Broughton Astley and then finally South Kilworth Road at around 1700hrs.

We often hear comments like “Shouldn’t the police be focusing on real crime?” when it comes to speed checks — so here’s why they’re important:

1. Speeding Puts Lives at Risk
Excess speed is one of the biggest factors in fatal and serious road collisions. Even a few miles over the limit can mean the difference between a near miss and a tragedy.

2. Community Concerns Matter
These operations are usually in direct response to residents’ concerns. People living in these areas see the impact of speeding daily – especially near schools, parks, or where visibility is limited.

3. Prevention Over Reaction
Stopping unsafe driving before it leads to harm is a proactive way to keep communities safe. It’s not just about fines — it’s about changing behaviour.

4. Reassurance and Visibility
These checks show a visible policing presence, which reassures the public that their concerns are being heard and addressed.

Ultimately, it’s about protecting lives and making our roads safer for everyone — and we believe that’s time well spent.
