This morning, I assisted General Duty Officers with the transportation of a person who had been arrested in the West Midlands Police (WMP) force area for the Theft of a Motor Vehicle (TOMV) that happened on our Neighbourhood Policing Area only a few days ago 🚔

The suspect and his co-accused had been detained by WMP Dog and Roads Policing Unit Officers fleeing the stolen vehicle, with the help of the eye in the sky... also known as, the National Police Air Service 🚁 🚨

2 in custody, 1 stolen vehicle and trailer recovered, along with a heap of stolen goods. Great job, thanks WMP! 👏

The investigation is still in the early stages and the suspects will be interviewed by Leicestershire Police Officers for the TOMV in a Leicestershire custody suite today ✍️

The suspects were also dealt with for offences that occurred in the West Midlands region by WMP. By transporting the suspects from one force area to another relevant force area, after WMP had finished dealing with the offences they are responsible for investigating, it grants Leicestershire Police a new 24-hour PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence act) custody clock. This is to allow sufficient time to properly and thoroughly investigate and deal with the offences under investigation by Leicestershire Police, whilst the suspects are in still custody 🔍 🕵

Vehicle crime is a neighbourhood priority for the Rutland North beat area. The suspects were apprehended in another force area with the stolen vehicle because the victim had reported this to Police in a timely manner and the vehicle was circulated nationally as stolen ❌  This highlights the importance of reporting incidents 📱 💻 ☎️ 🚓
