Do you think that you could drive your vehicle safely with one of the wheels in this condition ⁉️

No – we don't think so either ‼️

However, a drink driver who was caught by Police on the Rutland North beat area and provided a roadside breath test of more than 3 times the legal limit clearly thought that they could 🚨 🚔  

The vehicle was spotted by an eagle eyed off duty officer who thought it was a bit odd, (to say the least) 👏  when uniformed officers arrived on scene, the driver practically fell out of the vehicle before admitting the offence. After a trip to custody, a cosy cell and a pot noodle, they will now have their day in court ⚖️

Well done to officers 4050, 299 and 1315 👍

Driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs is one of the ‘fatal 4’ factors involved with road traffic collisions that cause death or serious injury ⚠️

This image should act as a clear reminder that your judgement, as well as your reactions, hand eye co-ordination and many many other factors are significantly impaired when under the influence. The answer... 👉 easy, don’t drink and drive ❌

Lastly, on the topic of road safety - officers including me have been out today with the speed laser (aka the speed gun) as part of “Operation Numbers”. 'Op Numbers' is a Melton and Rutland Neighbourhood Policing Area Dedicated Road Safety operation, aimed at improving the safety of all road users and denying criminals the use of the road, utilising staff from both Melton and Rutland. Road Safety is a neighbourhood priority for Rutland that you tell us you want us to focus our efforts on, so we've been doing that today, updates to follow.
