BEAT PRIORITY UPDATE FOR ASHBY DE LA ZOUCH JANUARY- MARCH 2025

E- SCOOTERS IN ASHBY

With much appreciated support from both Secondary Schools in Ashby all pupils have  been made aware of this particular issues illegality and enforcement protocols.
We have received confirmation  no pupils are attending either school on E-Scooters
We have reinforced this priority with the provision of legal documentation for the pupils and parents information.
We have provided similar information at Ashby Library and Everyone Active on Hood Park in Ashby.
We have issued 4 Section 59 warnings to the riders of E Scooters and seized another.
We have conducted daily patrols of the area.
Only one new complaint about E Scooters being ridden in Ashby has been made since we adopted this priority. Those responsible have been visited and proportionate action taken.

ROAD SAFETY IN PACKINGTON

We have now conducted 6 Speed enforcement checks in Packington and Ashby.

We have carried out speed checks on over 749 vehicles the vast majority of which were travelling within the prescribed limit.

We have taken action against 34 drivers.

We have published the results on Force social media and fed back results to local residents via targeted Neighbourhood Link updates
Since introducing the speed checks there has been a reduction in the amount of traffic that has been recorded exceeding the speed limit.

VEHICLE ASB ON TESCOS CAR PARK

We have conducted over 41 night time patrols of the car park itself
We have issued 3 Section 59 Warnings to vehicle drivers on the car park.
Two of our recommendations have been implemented by the store.

A number of “Speed Reduction Humps” have been installed on the car park and access roads.

Time limitation on parking at the store during the hours of darkness is now in effect.

This is enforced by ANPR Cameras.
We have noticed a reduction in the number of vehicles that are congregating on Tesco’s car park this is confirmed by the Supermarket management.

Local residents who have also been kept updated via Neighbourhood Link Posts and personal visits.

Anecdotal reports from residents confirm that the situation has improved.

We are by no means complacent and we will continue to patrol and monitor the area.
