Stoneygate Ward Newsletter January 2025 Newsletter

Introduction

Welcome to my monthly update for the residents and communities of the Stoneygate Ward Neighbourhood Policing Area. This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.

Police Seargeant Chris Brown

#YouSaid - What matters to you

Particular areas of concern include

Abingdon Road, St James Rd and Evington Rd and Onslow Park, This information was identified from a patch walk held with multi-agencies and local Cllrs on 15/10/24.

Drug dealing Abingdon Rd, Evington Footway, St James Rd , associated noise and accessing communal blocks St Albans, littering of drugs packaging in open areas Abingdon Road, Onslow Park

Concern on the Evington Road corridor in particular, and links of serious violence with young people across the beat

Community patch walk with partners on 15/10/24 raised these road safety related issues. The summer period was not conducive to organising an effective campaign but plans in place to address this over the autumn and winter

#WeDid - What we are doing

We wanted to provide an update on the continued efforts to tackle crime and antisocial behavior on Abingdon Road. Our proactive approach is already showing positive results, and we’re committed to making the area safer for everyone.

**Recent Progress:**
This month, two individuals were arrested, and drugs were recovered during a stop and search operation at this location. This marks a step forward in our efforts to disrupt criminal activity, and we will continue with proactive policing in the area to prevent further issues.

**New CCTV and Increased Monitoring:**
In addition to the ongoing work, we’re pleased to announce that local councillors have secured funding for a second temporary pod CCTV camera, which will be deployed exclusively within the Stoneygate Ward. We’re currently exploring the best ways to use this additional tool to both detect and prevent crime on Abingdon Road.

**Neighborhood Watch Initiative:**
We’re also excited to be collaborating with police volunteers and local residents to establish a new Neighborhood Watch program in this area. This initiative will give the community a stronger voice and enhance efforts to reduce crime through shared vigilance and cooperation.

These are just a few of the steps we’re taking, and we are committed to keeping you updated as our work progresses. As always, if you see something suspicious, please don’t hesitate to report it. Together, we can continue to make Abingdon Road a safer place to live and work.
