Dear Residents
Over the last 7 days, PC 1365 Stu Venables and PCSO 6174 Jon Harrison have been continuing to manage the Birstall and Wanlip beats.
PC Stu started 2 days prior to PCSO Jon and has been cracking on fine tuning the forthcoming Community Speed Watch Initiative and later in the week, in response to concerns expressed by parents of students at Cedars, undertook in tandem with PCSO Jon and Cedars Academy, regular patrols around the Loughborough Road area of Cedars in relation to reports of an unknown male approaching younger students as they left school and walk across the bridge that connects to Hallam Fields Estates and also the duck pond area close to the Hallam Fields Road entry to the Hallam Fields Estates. These patrols will continue into next week by both the Police and Cedars Academy.
There has also been an increase in Antisocial Behaviour occurring at Birstall North Services whereby youths, some of whom have been identified as attending Cedars Academy, have been causing harassment, alarm and distress through their actions which has increasingly led to reports of Criminal Damage, petty theft and unacceptable behaviour both to members of staff onsite and members of the public. PCSO Jon will be liaising with partner agencies to remedy this situation and look to follow the incremental approach to challenge this behaviour and manage the situation with a view to resolvement.
Burglaries continue to be reported in the villages and the local beat team will continue to assist other police agencies in their investigations. PCSO Jon will look to visit locations targeted and offer safety and security advice moving forwards but as previously offered, and forever more, the Local Policing Team are always on hand for residents to seek safety and security advice which can also be obtained through forthcoming engagements, of which PCSO Jon will be at the Warm Spaces Coffee meeting at St James the Great Church on Wednesday the 29th of January 2025 between 1 pm and 3 pm and looks forward to speaking with residents upon attendance.
Until then, stay safe, stay vigilant.
