#YouSaid - What matters to you

Darker Nights
With darker evenings approaching the beat team will be focusing on the prevention and detection of burglary dwellings on the beat. Updates will be provided via the City Centre Facebook page and Leicestershire Police Website.

Theft from persons
The beat team will be focussing on ensuring showing a high visibility presence in areas which have historically been targeted for thefts. With a number of beat surgeries and engagements planned to speak with the public and give crime prevention advice

Business Crime
Shoplifting within the City has detrimental effects to both businesses and visitors. The Beat Team will be engaging with businesses to give advice for the prevention of crime.

#WeDid - What we are doing

Darker Nights

The beat team provided patrols around areas where burglaries have occurred to reassure victims and to give crime prevention advice to prevent any further offences. Further to this the beat prioritised arrests of burglary suspects and worked with partner agencies to explore why they may be offending and offer support. Finally, a number of beat surgeries and social media posts were completed to advice members of public to be vigilant when leaving home and ensuring windows and doors are locked and secure.

Theft from persons

Dedicated patrols were given to areas such as New Walk and surrounding areas where historically we have seen an increase in theft from persons around this time of year. Again, social media posts were used to give advice to members of public on the importance of being vigilant when walking alone and to keep valuable secure and out of sight. The team completed a number of beat surgeries within the area engaging with members of public and businesses to provide reassurance.

Business Crime

With Christmas approaching there is unfortunately a number of business which suffer from an increase in shop theft. The team worked with businesses providing dedicated shopping patrols to show a high visibility presence. We also work with security guards to assist in identifying and prosecuting suspects and imposing bail conditions to prevent reoffending.
