Inspector Perry Update

Introduction

We have had a busy month so far for December…

Vehicles have been recovered in Lutterworth and Wigston.

A vehicle operation was run in Market Harborough alongside the rural crime team and DVSA several defects were identified, and some unroadworthy.

A drink driving operation is currently ongoing whereby several drivers have been arrested and charged being over the limit.

Several proactive stops under suspicious circumstances have resulted in ‘community resolutions’ for drug offences which is an out of court outcome diverting the offender towards mandatory rehabilitation intervention.

Crime prevention events have been held across the districts with items available that are funded by the community safety partnership such as window alarms and pouches to prevent car keys being scanned.

Kevin Sinfield CBE utilised Wigston Police Station as a final rest stop as part of his 50km a day for seven days to raise money for the motor neurone disease charities.

Much of the work carried out to keep residents of the district safe happens behind the scenes and often on a screen, so you may not always see the officers on a daily basis, but it does not mean they’re not working hard to keep you safe.

#YouSaid - What matters to you

We have been receiving concerns from retail outlets regarding repeat offenders involved in theft and anti-social behaviour in their establishments, and the effect it has on their business and customers. We have acknowledged the seriousness of this issue and as a result have placed a dedicated resource to deal with persistent offenders engaged in this type of offence this week two offenders have been charged with nine offences.

Concerns had been raised around speeding in Lutterworth, Swinford, North Kilworth, Dunton Bassett and Broughton Astley. The beat team have attended these locations for vehicle speed checks.

Hundreds of hours have been spent by our PCSOs on foot or in vehicles patrolling in key areas for speeding and ASB which are most identified as a priority for residents.
