#YouSaid - What matters to you

From data collated from local surveys, beat knowledge, intelligence and reports to Leicester Police, the following areas have been highlighted as priorities within the community.

Priority 1: Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) - You said: ASB is still taking place in open space areas and that there is concern that this will escalate particularly when it was Halloween, Bonfire Night, and Diwali, there is also concern about ASB occurring elsewhere on the beat.

Priority 2: ASB in the Lansdown Road area - You said: There is ongoing ASB, and other related issues such as damage and nuisance behaviour that is happening on most of the road.

Priority 3: Drugs - You said: Drug dealing, and drug use is still happening at addresses and elsewhere in the community.

#WeDid - What we are doing

Priority 1: Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) - We did: Dedicated visible patrols were conducted over the Bonfire Night/Halloween period of the beat and in open space areas to deter issues. We are happy to report that although there were some reports of ASB and the use of fireworks there were no serious offences with no damage or injury reported.

As part of ASB awareness week officers conducted a joint agency visit at the St Mary’s Open Space to ensure the location is being kept tidy and safe over the winter months as well as discussing ways to tackle and prevent ASB related issues from occurring.

A partial closure order was recently issued to an address in the Saffron Lane estate after multiple reports were made of ongoing ASB and nuisance/disruptive behaviour effecting nearby residents. PC McLean presented the case to the court and the order was granted based on the evidence gathered, people at the address must now adhere to strict conditions and if broken will face further criminal action.

Priority 2: ASB in the Lansdown Road area - We did: After speaking with residents, conducting numerous patrols, and working alongside the care home that had been experiencing issues officers were able to make two arrests based on the evidence obtained. One individual was given criminal charges and sent to prison, and one was charged and given bail conditions preventing them from being in the local area, since then there have been no further issues reported.

Priority 3: Drugs - We did: As part the of the Clear Hold Build/Safer Saffron Initiative aimed at targeting drug use and supply on the beat, several warrants have now been executed since the initiative began with many drugs being seized and destroyed.

Last week officers seized a large amount of cannabis from an address on the Saffron Lane Estate after responding to a report that was initially thought to be a concern for welfare. As part of the investigation and after some further enquires officers entered the address seized the cannabis as well as an offensive weapon and an illegal E-bike.
