Hello all.
This week has been ASB Awareness Week for Leicestershire Police and, as such, each Beat within Loughborough and Charnwood has been asked to promote greater awareness of this subject which invariably is one of the priorities that wreaks low level havoc across, not just Loughborough and Charnwood but Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Local Policing Team continuously conducts ASB patrols across not just all play areas within the villages but other areas that generate attention by those wishing to pursue noisy, aggressive or abusive behaviour.
In recent weeks we have had further escalation of knock and run incidents reported from multiple addresses across the Hallam Fields Estate whereby individuals have been kicking doors aggressively which in a few cases has resulted in affecting Criminal Damage. We have since identified suspects involved and will be pursuing the incremental approach to challenge this behaviour and enact the restorative process which, for a couple of individuals will be an escalation of how they have previously been dealt with.
The Incremental Approach is a mechanism the Police utilises to address ASB using what is ostensibly an updated version of old school thinking whereby a series of stages are enacted to address objectively unacceptable behaviour and dependent on the success or otherwise of each stage necessitates moving to the next stage. Each stage moves to the Restorative step of a more severe nature which, in certain circumstances ultimately results in the involvement of the courts.
Additionally, further reports have been received regarding ASB at the Birstall North / Thurcaston Services but the Local Policing Team are aware that the same individuals are involved in the Hallam Fields ASB are responsible for the Services ASB and will pursue the Incremental Approach there too.
Outside of these developments, the recent spate of Burglaries has lessened though we encourage residents to continue taking necessary steps to secure their properties and items of value and encourage all recipients of this correspondence to encourage your friends and neighbours who have not otherwise done so, to sign up to Neighbourhood Link so that, we, the Local policing Team, can better reach the residents of Birstall and Wanlip with relevant information, news and advice.
Until next time, stay safe, stay vigilant.
