WEEKLY BEAT PRIORITY UPDATE 23/05/24

DRUG MISUSE – ASHBY TOWN CENTRE AREA

You said:   That you had concerns over drug misuse in this area

We have:    Increased patrols in the designated areas with a view to reducing this activity.

Patrols are conducted using varying times and methods so intelligence gathering capability is not negatively impacted.

We will continue to add additional patrol locations based on topical intelligence from members of the public who we will invite via NHL to contribute to new locations. Existing activity will be inevitably be displaced from original target areas.

There are now 6 separate patrol locations.

We have liaised with local residents who have provided information and combined with our own observations we will continue to submit intelligence logs. These relate to vehicles and locations and are shared with both Beat Teams and Response Officers

We have updated activity diary with daily results and intelligence.

OPEN SPACE ASB

You said: That you have concerns over Anti-Social behaviour

We have: Used weekly threat data to conduct targeted patrols.

Our weekend ASB patrols have been booked onto our duties.

This will prevent any unforeseen abstractions.

We have conducted 3 late turn dedicated patrols this month and have one planned for this weekend.

We have also conducted 3 open space “knife sweeps” to support Operation Sceptre. This is the Nationwide Campaign to highlight the issue of knife crime

ACQUISITIVE CRIME PATROLS FOR VEHICLE CRIME AND BURGLARY

You said: You want Ashby to remain a safe environment both residents and visitors.

We have: Understood that residential burglary and vehicle crime are crimes that resonate with communities and we recognise that acquisitive crime of this nature has a significant impact on the community. Our response directly influences victim and community confidence.

We have highlighted these issues and given advice at several separate Beat Surgeries and meetings.

As a result of this the Beat Team are using weekly crime trend data to prioritise our patrols in targeted areas. Public acquisitive crime alerts have been sent out via Neighbourhood Link and Facebook.

We are continuing to visit any locations affected and liaising directly with residents to make them aware of any emerging trends.

During visits we also give crime prevention advice face to face on an individual basis. The public response to this has been very positive.

Our aim is to complete follow up visits as expediently as possible.

We intend to visit further locations today specifically in relation to a reported burglary.

PLEASE NOTE.

IN RELATION TO ALL 3 OF THE ABOVE PRIORITIES, BEAT OFFICERS UPDATE A LIVE DIARY WITH DEVELOPMENTS AND INTELLIGENCE.

THIS ENSURES THAT OUR OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS IS NOT COMPROMISED.

WE WILL ALSO CONTINUE TO UPDATE ALL RESIDENTS ABOUT WHAT WE ARE DOING

VIA NEIGHBOURHOOD LINK.
