Fosse Ward - Beat Team Weekly Update

Good evening,

Here is this week's snapshot of how your Fosse Neighbourhood Policing Team have addressed some of the concerns you have raised during recent surveys.

Robbery on the Fosse Ward

Two days prior to writing this, just after our OP Pedalfast that you will see below, we were made aware of a Robbery that took place on the Rally Park where a male had his push bike stolen. Unfortunately despite Officers being on scene with the victim within 3 minutes of the call we were unable to locate the suspect, however the suspect left their own push bike at the scene meaning we could recover this for forensics to be recovered. Yesterday, while on patrol we spotted a male who we believed to be using the stolen push bike, where after confirming the suspect description an identification was made, leading to an arrest this morning at this persons address. The victim already has their bike back to them and the male will be facing a nice long stay in our cells, away from the victim and away from the Fosse Ward!

Operation Pedalfast on Rally Park

Due to feedback from recent Community Meetings and Surveys we have performed another of our 'Operation Pedalfast's' on the Rally park. We are happy to say that whilst multiple warnings were given out we only encountered first time offenders and so no E-scooters, or E-Bikes needed to be seized.👍

This is in line with our current Force Policy where people are stopped and given an initial warning as we appreciate that whilst illegal, E-Scooters are still openly sold at many stores with the necessary warnings likely in fine print! (As they are able to be used on private land only). We understand that a great number of residents use these to commute to work, visit stores or medical appointments etc and this is why we will first stop, educate and explain and record a warning but if someone is seen by Officers a second time, which yes does happen!, then we move to enforcement and an Officer will seize it under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act. (We do remember faces!...)

Do not worry! This Operation was completed in just under two hours, leaving us plenty of time to deal with 'real crime!'

Speeding on Fosse Road North

On Thursday we completed a check on Speeding Motorists on Fosse Road North junction with Henley Road. We posted up at multiple spots for a few hours and gave out multiple warnings, as offenders were only 1 or 2 mph too fast but we are happy to say we did not encounter anyone driving dangerously or too fast. We will be completing these checks again but please remember there are other units within the Police that will conduct checks using mobile Speed Camera Vans which will not always be as visible as us wearing High Visibility jackets, be warned!

Any concerns or questions please reply and it will notify us!

Have a safe week!
