Burbage Police. Criminal Damage, Seized Vehicle And Anti-social Behaviour

Hello Resident,

Here is a bit of an update for the last few days in Burbage.

Report of damage to a vehicle window on Coventry Road (near Paddock Lane) where the window was smashed. It appears this was an act of vandalism sometime between 02:00-08:00 on the morning of the 21st of April. Please get in touch if you have any CCTV around this area showing any suspects.

We are identifying multiple youths which may be linked to some of the recent issues such as fence damage, vehicle damage and drunken behaviour in the village. Work is ongoing with schools and partner agencies. We have had some helpful CCTV provided to us regarding these incidents which really help in regard to identifying those involved and times of incidents so thank you for any information you have been able to provide. We are completing targeted patrols, home visits and piecing together recent activity which will hopefully get some results and prevent further issues.

Vehicle seized from Brookside this week for multiple reasons. There has been a recent increase in vehicles that appear to be “dumped” around the village, often with no tax. If a vehicle has no tax and is parked on a public road, we have the powers to remove it. The vehicle needs to be caught being driven in regard to no insurance or MOT. We will obviously try to deal with any information we get as soon as possible as some vehicles where the documents are not in order, can be linked to crime. You can also call 101 if you have concerns regarding a vehicle.

Report of an attempt break to a garage at the back of East close at 15:35 on the 24th. A couple of youths were seen in the area (one with an E-scooter). Officers attended the area immediately, but the suspects had gone. We are in the process of identifying those involved and work is ongoing to address the report. Some of the recent concerns/incidents are carrying over from the Hinckley area who are also seeing these types of issues. 24000239118

Thank you and take care.

Darren and Josh.
