Hinckley Town Newsletter

Dear residents,

The NH25 Neighbourhood Beat Team have been kept busy over the past week dealing with Beat priorities,  ongoing issues around Greater Hinckley and helping colleagues around Leicestershire.

Some positive results around retail crime-

A male and female had been seen by staff at a local store taking items, and not paying for them the couple decided to carry on their shopping trip at another retailer. Eagle eyed security officers have identified the male and female and called for Police assistance. On attending the store the male and female have travelled from outside of Leicestershire hoping they would not be known.

On checking the male through Police systems it was established that he was wanted for offences on another force area!!! The male was duly arrested and taken to custody.

A short while later after being dealt with by officers the female was sent on her way but is then seen by CCTV making her way to a parked vehicle and PCSO Noone sees the female attempt to leave in the vehicle and was asked to stop, on checking the ladies documents, she did not have a driving licence!!!

Further enquiries located damaged security tags, stolen glasses frames, and stolen cosmetics. Due to the above the female was also arrested.

Nearly £1000 worth of goods have been recovered and returned to stores. And the car was recovered due to no insurance and other matters.

There was an attempt to do a substantial weekly food and clothing shop at the local supermarket after filling a number of trolleys and leaving the store without paying security contacted PCSO Wane who hot footed across town to assist.  The persons involved also tried to evade security and police, but our eagle-eyed CCTV operator has located the persons splitting up and trying to avoid officers. After a short while a vehicle was located containing a total of £921.05 worth of shopping.

Once again, this was a great bit of team work from Town Centre CCTV, Security Officers, PCSO and Police Officers. Working together is how we get these type of results.

Engagement:

PC Smeaton and PCSO Noone attended Active Hinckley at Argents Mead for a free bicycle maintenance event where we held a Crime prevention stall. Look out for further dates throughout the next few months where we hope to attend again for more Crime Prevention advice.

PC Smeaton, PCSO Noone and our Police volunteer Jackie attended Sainsburys The Crescent where we held another Crime Prevention day selling crime prevention items including Faraday pouches. We plan to hold them monthly in Sainsburys so look out for future dates here.
