Unfortunately we have in recent days seen an increase in what is termed ‘purse dipping’ in the Loughborough town centre, purse dipping is essentially stealing from persons usually a bag or handbag hung over a shoulder or shopping trolley.

Persons distract a member of the public whilst the other person takes items from their bag. Usually a purse / wallet

Whilst we are investigating these crimes and trying to identify such persons we ask that whilst out and about please ensure your personal possessions are secure and be aware of any persons trying to distract you.

Police will be working with the local BID and stores in relation to this crime
