Crime Warning in Quorn

Alert message sent 18/01/2020 11:48:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Over the past week we've had four thefts from vehicles overnight around Quorn.

Two involved property being taken from the vehicle and two involved the number plates being stolen.

Stolen number plates will be fixed onto other vehicles by criminals in order to hide their identity.  This can be to hide a stolen car or use the car to commit other crime or evade traffic enforcement cameras.

These can cause further inconvenience to the victim, with unwanted speeding tickets arriving or the police knocking on the door in the middle of the night because the vehicle has been used in crime.

Number plate theft can be easily prevented by replacing the number plate screws with tamper proof screws.  These are available from most car accessory shops relatively cheaply.
