Say no or yes to Trick or Treat Posters

Alert message sent 24/10/2019 19:08:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

Hope you all are keeping well. Your Neighbourhood Teams have been busy patrolling in your area for Op Wrangler which is used for our Burglary patrols. If you do see any suspicious activity please ensure that this is called in. The areas where we have seen the majority of Burglary are Knighton, Wigston and Oadby. Vehicles have been stolen from these burglaries and I would suggest that if you are not at home to either hide the keys or take them with you. During the night do not leave your keys in typical places as there has been an incident where burglars have entered premises via a downstairs insecure window whilst occupants were upstairs sleeping and stole the keys, bankcards and the vehicle without them knowing.

We have also seen a few reports of Number plate thefts on our area. Please ensure that you get a free set of security screws from Wigston Police station. Top Tip – If you park your car on your driveway try and reverse your car very close to a wall to prevent your number plate being stolen as the criminal obviously needs both plates.

We are still continuing the Celebrate Safely campaigns where we are giving out leaflets, freebies such as SelectaDNA marking kits, 24hr Segment Timer and we have a short supply of Keyless entry pouches for your vehicle. So keep a look out if you see us out and about.

Now that it’s getting nearer to Halloween, your local teams have also visited local schools where we have given talks to younger children about respecting their community and to look out for the ‘No Thanks to Trick or Treaters poster. Please see attached in case you are unable to collect a poster so you can print it on A4. We have also spoken to majority of retailers about the sale of eggs and Flour on Halloween.

We have also received a high number of reports of Anti-Social Behaviour around Wigston Town Centre. We have worked extremely hard working with local partners and retailers around the area. We have identified majority of these trouble makers and will be taking action so watch this space for updates very soon.

Stay Safe – “If you see something….Say Something and Report it!”
