Charnwood Policing Update

Alert message sent 12/08/2019 19:14:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Good evening,

I am working on a simple Charnwood Watch scheme to reach out to those people within our communities that are not already part of any local Neighbourhood Watch. There are lots of effective NHW schemes already in existence across the borough and may I take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you that give time and are involved in these.

Charnwood Watch is not intended to replace the already successful established schemes but my wish is that we, as your local policing team start to communicate a little closer with our communities and subsequently work together to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
I accept over the last few years this has not been a priority but myself and Inspector Botte feel that we need to improve this area of our work to help keep our communities safe.

I want us to provide you with more timely updates around crimes or suspicious incidents and of course share crime reduction advice that is appropriate and relevant.

By aspiring to have Charnwood Watch across the whole borough it will hopefully help communication between existing schemes, should they wish to be involved whilst recruiting new members in the under represented areas.

I will be working with partner agencies with regard to this project and hope to update you further in forthcoming weeks.

Moving forward, I would be looking to link in with existing schemes so if any local coordinators which to be a lead point of contact for their village that I can communicate with, then please do get in touch.

Stay safe
