Watchout for DVLA car tax scam

Alert message sent 28/01/2019 14:55:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members

I sent a message previously about a scam email being sent relating to TV Licencing. Trading Standards are warning residents to be aware of e-mails claiming that payments made for car tax have failed and asking for billing details to be updated and verified so that system can ‘try again’.  Trading Standards advise not to respond to these messages or provide any personal or banking information to stay safe from scammers. If residents have any queries or concerns about their car tax, they should contact the DVLA using that organisation’s official contact details. If you think you have please scammed please report it to Action Fraud https://www.actionfraud.police.uk or call them direct on 0800 123 2040.

Stay Safe
