Alert message sent 22/10/2018 11:18:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

Hope you all are well. It has been a busy week with the recent Murder enquiry we had on Southfields Drive in Leicester. Please see link below of this recent update. There was also a further incident on Hillsborough Road and a number of people were arrested and being dealt with. At the moment things do appear to have settled down.

Further more we have had a spate of Theft From Motor Vehicles last night as below.

Knighton - 5 (3 from Carisbrooke Gardens Area)
Wigston - 1 (1 Motorcycle reported stolen in the area of West Avenue)
Aylestone - 2

Please see below advice to help protect you from vehicle crime.

Protect your vehicle. Don’t give thieves an easy ride.

  • leave it on show expect it to go! Always remove valuables from your vehicle

  • remove sat nav’s including the support cradle and cables. Wipe away any suction pad marks

  • don’t leave tools in vans overnight

  • make sure that doors are locked, windows are closed and keys are removed when you leave the car, even if it’s only for a moment

  • on icy mornings, never leave your vehicle unattended with the engine running

  • park your vehicle in a well-lit spot that is visible to others, or covered by CCTV

  • if you have a garage, use it. Always lock your vehicle and garage

  • consider fitting a metal cage to your catalytic convertor or have it etched

  • register any vehicle equipment such as CD players, in-car DVD payers, and sat nav’s, for free with immobilise.com

As for Burglaries #OpBehold seems to have reduced slightly however this can always change so always remain vigilant and continue to report suspicious activity. The trend at the moment is on Theft From Motor Vehicles (Vehicle crime). Last 24hrs Burglaries we have had two in the Aylestone Area. Please remember to utilise timer lights and secure your premises from front and rear especially now that we are in the darker nights. As for the icy mornings which are now approaching us, please always ensure that you are with your vehicle whilst defrosting your vehicle.

Stay Safe
