Beat Updates

Oakham Town & Barleythorpe – Local residents bought to the Beat Teams attention that drugs and alcohol were being used by our young people in Oakham and Barleythorpe. The ages ranged from 15-21yrs of age. This is having a detrimental affect on these young people and the surrounding premises. We have started to target the areas identified with high visibility policing and engagement with the young people in these areas. When required and with necessary grounds we have stopped and searched young people. We have already had successes and currently we have five young people who have been caught with cannabis and have been referred to agencies for help.
