Theft from Motor Vehicles is happening in your area

Alert message sent 27/09/2018 17:31:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

Hello, hope you all are well. I first wanted to start and share some recent news relating to #OpBehold. There was a Car Key Burglary in our area where suspects have stolen Keys to a Lexus vehicle. Local officers located and recovered this vehicle following a number of arrests relating to this burglary which is great news.

Further to this I have seen a spate of overnight Theft from Motor Vehicle mostly in the Wigston, Knighton and Oadby Area. On all of these reports being 16 there are no signs of entry so could be either Keyless entry or people are leaving their vehicles unlocked. The type of goods stolen are items like loose change, wallets, bank cards and a few reports of tools as well. There has been sightings of two persons on bikes trying car doors that could be connected to these thefts.

Please ensure that you secure your vehicles ensuring you test the car handle manually without relying on the remote locking system of your vehicle. Remember to remove items especially valuable items such as contactless bank cards or any personal documents as I’m sure you wouldn't want criminals to get hold of your personal information. If your vehicle does have a keyless feature please purchase a Keyless signal blocker pouch. You can get these for a few pounds on the Internet.

If you see anything suspicious please ensure that you call us and let us know the direction of travel the suspects are going along with description.

Stay Safe
