Local Crime Alert

Since the last Neighbourhood watch brief we have had one report of a burglary residential to a secured dwelling in Main St, Thorpe by Water. Unknown person(s) have gained entry and taken property. This incident occurred between 23/08/2018 10:00 & 23/08/2018 12:00.

In the last week we have had 10 reports of vehicles broken into and in the majority of cases property taken. These incidents have occurred mainly at Rutland beauty spots. If you do park up in any of these locations please ensure that no property is visible through the windows. Better still, take handbags, wallets or other valuable items etc with you or leave them at home.

Oakham & BarleythorpeLocal Officers have continued to patrol the artierial routes in and out of Rutland. Theft from unattended vehicles had become an issue for us. We have disrupted and identified suspects for offences and worked with Cambridgeshire Police to prosecute these suspects.

Rutland North & South – The joint Rutland North and Rutland South priority remains as Rural Crime in relation to Burglaries, car crime and theft. We have had further Theft from vehicles in isolated beauty spots where property has been taken but no further reports of church lead thefts. We are currently working with Neighbouring Police Forces to identify the suspects and ask that local residents do not leave any valuables in their vehicles. In relation to the church lead thefts we are asking local residents to look out for suspicious persons/ vehicles from dusk onwards. We continue to utilise the ANPR camera in Rutland to identify vehicles travelling through the County either with no driving documents or linked to criminality. We will continue to work closely with the local residents and will alert you as soon as crime is reported and ask that if anything suspicious is seen to report through 101.
