Preparing for autumn

Alert message sent 14/08/2018 10:38:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

I know it's still summer but the nights are rapidly drawing in, the schools will soon be back and we'll soon be feeling a bit cooler.
The darker evenings bring new challenges to home security as a house in darkness in the early evening indicates that there's no-one at home.
Using timer devices to turn on lighting whether you're at home or not is one way to make your home appear occupied. These can be relatively cheap to use with plug in table or standard lamps to the sophisticated wi-fi controlled systems but still do the same job.
If you can have more than one which come on (and go off) at different times you can position them in different rooms to give the impression of moving around the home.
However it is essential that as it gets dark earlier you adjust the "on" time accordingly.
