Birstall & Wanlip - December Newsletter |

|
Welcome to the monthly update for the residents and communities of the Birstall & Wanlip Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
ASB (Antisocial Behaviour)
Work is ongoing to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) at the service station. Several offenders have been identified and will be visited in the coming weeks as part of targeted enforcement action. Patrols in local parks have continued—particularly during the recent half-term period—to provide reassurance and deter ASB. We are working closely with partner agencies, including schools, housing providers, and site management teams, to develop long-term solutions to recurring issues. Restorative measures have also been implemented to address the impact of these behaviours.
Road Safety
Road safety remains a top concern raised by residents, particularly around speeding and inconsiderate parking near schools. In response; Our beat officer has completed training on new speed gun equipment, which now includes video capability to capture offending vehicles. Plans are underway to carry out targeted enforcement at locations identified by the community as areas of concern. We continue to work closely with local schools to address parking issues and promote safer drop-off & pick-up practices. We appreciate the community’s ongoing support and feedback as we work together to improve safety for all.
Residential Burglaries
Overall, we’ve seen a noticeable reduction in burglaries across the area, thanks to proactive measures by the Charnwood beat teams. Regular overnight patrols have played a vital role in deterring offences and providing reassurance to the local community. However, we are aware of a recent spike in incidents, including a concerning burglary on the Riverside Ward. Multiple departments are actively investigating these cases, and officers are pursuing all lines of enquiry to support ongoing investigations. We continue to work closely with partner teams to identify and apprehend those responsible. These efforts demonstrate our ongoing commitment to community safety and crime prevention, and we remain focused on maintaining a visible presence and responding swiftly to emerging trends.
